Meet Ralph, the man who suffers from the 'Bill and Ben Syndrome'; there's super spy Kirk, with his parable of the go-go-nun; Kate, who's been divorced from the three men and doesn't think she has a problem and Mrs Arnott, who has a thing for Mars bars - u sually when she's depressed. The group is led by Louise. She's rather fond of John. But he's got his mind on other things, like his son Toby, whom he sees on Sundays, and his friends who seem to have more problems than he does. John's social life has pick ed up though. With pub nights and parties to attend, John's only problem now is to find someone to go with him. Tape 2 John's friend, Ken, has heard so much about the 1-2-1 club that he decides it's time to pay a visit. The only problem being that h e's a married father of five. Not one to put off, Ken attends a session and instantly hit it off with Kate. Ken's wife, Maggie won't be pleased, but neither is someone else in the group who is secretly fond of Kate. Kate's secret admirer confesses to John , and asks him if he'll move things along. John agrees, but ends up in bed with Kate after too many glasses of wine round at his flat. All is revealed, but it turns out that it's not just John who's been a bit sneaky. Former pop sensation of January 19 69, Rik Fotune, joins the 1-2-1, but no-one in the group remembers him, especially Kirk who doubts his group ever existed. John tries to boost Rik's confidence.
